Transit Visas
Most persons travelling to another country via Australia or joining a ship in Australia are required to hold a transit visa.
The transit visa allows the holder to remain in Australia for 72 hours.
For detailed instructions on how to lodge an application please see:
• Application for Transit Visa
• List of additional documents (English)
• List of additional documents (Hrvatski)
The average processing time for a transit visa is up to 7 days provided all relevant documentation has been lodged. However, in order to ensure that you meet your travel commitments, please lodge your application for a transit visa at least 1 month prior to expected date of travel.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship does not recommend purchase of airline tickets until your visa application has been decided.
Please send your documents by registered mail to the Embassy. Alternatively, if you would like to lodge your application in person, you are required to have an appointment. To make an appointment, please contact the Embassy on +385 1 4891 209 between 9 and 11AM from Monday - Friday or e-mail us at Enquiries-Zagreb@dfat.gov.au. Note that we may not be able to make a decision on your application on the same day.
