Temporary Resident Visas

The temporary residence program has been designed to facilitate the entry of persons who want to live in Australia temporarily for work purposes.

Some examples include:

Entertainer Visa – for people involved in a range of social and cultural activities. A sponsorship is required regardless of the length of stay.

Sports Visa – for amateur or professional sports people engaging in competition with Australian residents. A sponsorship is required regardless of the length of stay.

Media and Film Visa – for correspondents and other professional media staff being posted to Australia by overseas news organisations and photographers and film and television crews making documetnaries or commercials for overseas consumption. A sponsorship is required regardless of the length of stay.

Religious Worker visa – for religious workers temporarily serving the spiritual needs of people of their faith in Australia. A sponsorship is required regardless of the length of stay.

Occupational trainee visa – for persons undertaking supervised training of which 70 percent is workplace-based or for post-graduate work experience for professional registration purposes. A nomination is required regardless of the period of stay. Applications for an occupational trainee visa must be lodged in Australia.
