Student Visa Information

Please read the information form 1160i “Applying for a student visa” and information provided on Internet at: http://www.immi.gov.au before lodging your application.
Please note that processing of a student visa may take up to 10 weeks, so you should apply as early as possible before you intend to travel to Australia.
There is no need to lodge an application in person; please mail your application to the above address.
We advise you not to purchase airline tickets before your visa application is finalised.

Croatian and Bosnian nationals applying for a student visa to Australia are required to complete form 157A and to provide the following documents:

 Visa application charge of 2,510.00 Croatian Kuna or 345.00 Euro. Please see instructions on how to pay the fee. Also include postage costs for return postage charges.
 1 passport size photograph
 Both parents’/legal guardians’ consent for any under-aged (under 18 years) applicant’s stay in Australia and birth certificate. These documents must be certified by an authorised person or institution. 

THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PROVIDED FOR THE VISA SUBCLASS YOU ARE APPLYING UNDER:

INDEPENDENT ELICOS VISA (SUBCLASS 570)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition fees
 Evidence that you, or individual funding you, have sufficient funds to meet the total costs of the proposed ELICOS education and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)
 School/university graduation certificates
 Evidence of employment/self-employment or school certificate for students

SCHOOLS VISA (SUBCLASS 571) (INCLUDES SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN A FORMAL REGISTERED SECONDARY EXCHANGE PROGRAM)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition fees
 Evidence that you, or individual funding you, have sufficient funds to meet the total costs of the proposed education and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING VISA (SUBCLASS 572)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition
 Evidence that you, or individual funding you, have sufficient funds to meet the total costs of proposed vocational education and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)
 Evidence from your English language proficiency - a minimum overall band score of 5.5 IELTS test that was taken less than 2 years before the date of application or overall band score of 4.5 IELTS with maximum of 30 weeks ELICOS before commencing principal course
 School reports/ academic records showing completion of prerequisite schooling
 Evidence of employment/self-employment or school certificate for students


HIGHER EDUCATION VISA (SUBCLASS 573)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition
 Evidence that whoever is the source of funds has held sufficient funds to meet the total costs of the proposed university study and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application.
 Evidence from your English language proficiency - a minimum overall band score of 6.0 IELTS test that was taken less than 2 years before the date of application or overall band score of 5.0 IELTS with maximum of 30 weeks ELICOS before commencing principal course
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)
 School reports/ academic records showing completion of year 12 or equivalent
 Evidence of employment/self-employment or school certificate for students


POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH VISA (SUBCLASS 574)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition fees

 Evidence that you, or individual funding you, have sufficient funds to meet the total costs of the first year (12 months) of postgraduate education and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application.
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)
 Evidence from your English language proficiency - a minimum overall band score of 6.0 IELTS test that was taken less than 2 years before the date of application or overall band score of 5.0 IELTS with maximum 30 weeks ELICOS before commencing principal course
 School reports/ academic records showing completion of relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent
 Evidence of employment/self-employment or school certificate for students


NON-AWARD (SUBCLASS 575)
 'Offer of a place in a course' (from the Australian educational provider). Please note that you must apply for your student visa before you have formally enrolled in the course you propose to undertake. Once you have lodged an application for a student visa the embassy will advise you if you should enrol and pay any tuition fees
 Evidence that you or an individual funding you, have sufficient funds to meet the costs of proposed education and stay in Australia, and which have been held for a period of 3 months immediately preceding the visa application
 Evidence that you or individual funding you have the ability to accumulate the sufficient funds (eg salary earnings, evidence of sale of property, etc)
 Evidence from your English language proficiency - a minimum overall band score of 5.5 IELTS test that was taken less than 2 years before the date of application or overall band score of 4.5 IELTS with maximum 30 weeks ELICOS before commencing principal course
 School reports/ academic records showing completion of prerequisite schooling
 Evidence of employment/self-employment or school certificate for students


Please note:
Details of personal savings accounts must be submitted in the form of original or certified copies of bank statements.


You will be advised how and where any necessary medical examinations are to be done once your application has been received and assessed.


Claims made in the application regarding finances, employment and educational qualifications may be checked. If you are found to have supplied false/forged supporting documents, your application will be refused. If for any reason you cannot supply any of the requested documents listed above, please supply a detailed letter of explanation.
