Changes to citizenship by descent processing

As of 1 July 2009, nationals and residents of Croatia should apply for citizenship by descent at the Australian High Commission in London at the following address:

Australian Citizenship Bill 2006

On 1 March 2007, the Australian Citizenship Bill 2006 was passed by the Australian Parliament. The new legislation commenced on 1 July 2007.

Some of the changes include:

• Introduction of a formal citizenship test
• New residence requirements
• Age Limitations for citizenship by descent will be removed
