Australian Federal Election 2010
The Australian federal election will be held on Saturday 21 August 2010. The Australian Electoral Commission provides information for overseas voters.
If you are overseas, you do not have to vote in the federal election and can complete the Overseas Notification form.
However, if you wish to vote while overseas, you will be able to vote either in person at the Australian Embassy, Zagreb, or by applying for a postal vote. You will need to know which Australian address you are currently enrolled at in order to be issued with the correct ballot papers for your electorate. You can check at www.aec.gov.au/check or by calling +61 2 6271 4411.
The Australian Embassy in Zagreb will be conducting early voting at the following times:
Monday 9 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Tuesday 10 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesday 11 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Thursday 12 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Friday 13 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Saturday 14 August 2010 CLOSED
Sunday 15 August 2010 CLOSED
Monday 16 August 2010 CLOSED – Public Holiday
Tuesday 17 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Wednesday 18 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Thursday 19 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Friday 20 August 2010 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Please note that you will not be able to cast your vote on polling day in Croatia due to the time difference between Australia and Croatia.
By voting early, you may avoid queues and delays.
Alternatively, you can complete a Postal Vote Application form . Postal vote applications (PVA) are also available from the Australian Embassy, Zagreb. The Australian Embassy in Zagreb will accept postal vote applications until 4.30 pm Wednesday 18 August 2010. PVAs can also be scanned and emailed to the Embassy on AustEmb.Zagreb@dfat.gov.au. Your ballot papers will then be sent to you to complete and post back. If you opt for a postal vote, apply now so that we can get your ballot papers to you in time.
