Business Visas
A Short Stay Business Visa (subclass 456 or subclass 977 ETA or eVisitor) allows business people to make a short business visit to Australia for up to three months.
Business activities may include a conference, negotiation or exploratory business visit, but do not include acting, musical performances or commercial film making.
Please note that this visa does not allow you to work except in very limited circumstances. The work must be:
urgent
very short term (several days)
highly specialised, and
the position cannot be ongoing.
Generally, persons seeking to engage in paid employment in Australia, even if the period of employment is less than three months, should apply for the Temporary Business Entry (Long Stay) visa - subclass 457 or other class of visa. This is regardless of whether the employer is a business based inside or outside Australia.
